Last year Matt came up with this great idea to help Q Zealanders to be more independent. The rest of the class helped out with the details.
Level 0 (nobody has ever been on this level)
-Work within 10m of TC
-Ask permission to go to the bathroom (TC will appoint someone to chaperone)
-Sit outside the staffroom at morning tea and wait for TC to take you back to class
-Stand outside the door at 9.00 and 2.00 bell times until asked to come inside
-No individual computer logon rights
-No internet or email access
Level 1 (everyone starts here – even Old Zealanders)
-Always work within sight of TC
-Ask permission to go to the bathroom
-Individual computer logon rights
-Internet and email access – with TC’s OK
Level 2 (most people should reach this level by half way through Term One)
-Always work in the same classroom as TC (not necessarily within sight)
-No need for bathroom permission
-May run messages with TC’s OK
-Individual computer logon rights
-Internet and email access – with TC’s OK
Level 3 (Most of you should be at this level by the end of the year)
-Work in other classrooms or areas of the school (with TC’s permission) if necessary
-Individual computer logon rights
-Internet and email access – with TC’s OK
Level 4 (only two people can hold this license at a time)
-May occasionally accompany a Level 2 license holder if working in another classroom (with TC’s OK)
-Individual computer logon rights
-Internet and email access – with TC’s OK
We will agree on independence success criteria as a class.
